Overview
Looking for something different this winter? We’ve found the perfect alternative ski - a luxury lodge set in a stunning remote area in northern Norway. We’re talking skiing like you’ve never seen, kayaking in stunning fjords, and fishing for your supper in the untamed wild of Norway’s Arctic Circle.
Experience
Escape the masses this winter and cut a path to Northern Norway. This is a land of glacial ravines, frosted forests and fjords bursting with fish. More to the point, the Lyngen Alps has some of the most unspoilt arctic snow we’ve come across, just crying out to be skied over off-piste.
Stay in the exclusive Lyngen Lodge. Nestled between Lyngen fjord to the east and Ullsfjorden to the west, near the sparsely populated village of Djupvik, this brand new log cabin has eight en suite bedrooms, a dining room, lounge, library and sauna. There’s panoramic views of the fjord and of Strupbreen – a glacier that slides over the opposite valley – and there’s an outdoor hot tub where you can relax with spectacular views of these ethereal mountains.
From here you can take a specially designed state-of-the-art 35ft powerboat to your chosen mountain for the day. Upon reaching the summit, relax over lunch and enjoy the spectacular views, before venturing down the long ski descents and ending up back on the beach to meet the boat.
After an active day in the great Norwegian outdoors, we’ll transport you back for an evening of relaxation in front of the lodge’s roaring log fire and a hearty three-course meal cooked for you by the in-house chef. After dinner, sink into the hot tub and with any luck you’ll be treated to a kaleidoscopic sky of greens, violets and blues. In the polar winter, Lyngen’s northern climes are arguably the best in the world for viewing the Northern Lights.
As well as the phenomenal skiing, this region is a bona fide adventure playground (not to mention a photographer’s paradise). You can fish for your own salmon and have it grilled for dinner, canoe through fjords and glacial waters, and watch enormous waterfalls tumble down craggy rocks with eagles swooping overhead.
