The Experience
Tuscany gets the plaudits for all the right reasons: the countryside, the glorious food and drink and the perfect summer climate in which to enjoy it all. However, the area can be accussed of the somewhat formulaic ‘traditional rustic’ approach to accommodation. Thankfully one property in particular is bucking the trend.
The brainchild of John Voigtmann and Ondine Cohane, La Bandita is the gorgeous manifestation of their passion for creating a unique Tuscan property that contains influences of the careers they pursued prior to starting this project. John used to manage some of the world's greatest rock bands, from The Strokes to the Kings of Leon, which means he knows just a thing or two about exceptional service. Ondine remains a leading travel journalist and her expert insight of just what makes a perfect place has been poured into the project.
The resulting La Bandita combines the classic Tuscan aesthetic with a refreshingly contemporary design while the service is all about laidback luxury.
Formerly a derelict farm, La Bandita is set in a two thousand acre nature reserve. This beautiful location boasts 360-degree views of the Val d'Orcia (the gorgeous countryside south of Siena), with its rolling pasture land, olive groves, monasteries and fortified stone villages that haven't changed much in 500 years.
The four acre property features outdoor dining areas, an infinity pool overlooking the valley and airy guestrooms with sweeping views, modern furnishings, luxurious linens and a series of wonderful extra services (from as much cappuccino as you can drink and routes for local walks through the countryside and hill towns to free Wi-Fi and local chefs cooking for you in the beautiful grounds).
La Bandita sleeps up to 16 and is available for complete hire or as individual rooms by the day.
